Last week, I posted about yearly goals. This week, I start breaking those yearly goals down into quarterly ones to get there by the end of the year.
I realize I'm already a touch off one of my yearly goals by posting this a day late, but seeing as how our internet was down all day yesterday, I don't think that really counts. I have wanted to get things written and posted ahead of time, but I'm still working on getting that good and started. Yesterday is an illustration of why I want to work a couple weeks ahead.
Enough of that, on with the goals.
2017 Fourth Quarter Goals
1. Walk at least two miles every day.
I got close, but between an injury and then the bustle of preparing for Christmas, I barely managed a mile some days if that.
2. Finish three scarves.
Total fail. I got a fair bit done on the two I'd already started, but I didn't manage to finish any of them let alone start the third.
3. Finish the paintings for the living room.
Again, total fail. I never even had the chance to get them out of storage to work on them.
4. Get both blogs back up and running.
There have been a few hiccups, missing the usual Friday flash fiction posts here the past two weeks namely, but I actually managed this one.
5. Return to work on drafting Icarus.
Didn't even get close. The idea was to get at least a couple of weeks ahead with the blog posts and then start drafting three days a week, but I never managed to get ahead with the blog posts because I spent so much time trying to get things deep cleaned and reorganized after several months of letting more than jus the essential housework slip because of the day job. I'm hoping to improve on this during January.
6. Return to work on the grammar and creative writing textbooks.
I did manage a little on this. It was no where near as much as I'd hoped, but still, I did do something toward it.
7. Make Lily a sweater.
You know, Lily's a lot bigger than I realized. I got started, but it got super cold before I could get anywhere close to finished. We went out and bought one, so she wouldn't suffer while waiting on me to finish one for her. I'm still working on it though.
8. Brainstorm the 2018 soap and perfume lines for Contented Comfort.
I started on this one. I still need three or four more, but I'm almost there.
2018 First Quarter Goals
1. Walk every day and do strength training three times a week.
Just a basic beginner level fitness plan meant to work on strength and endurance. Keep it simple, right?
2. Finish the Icarus rough draft.
If I'm going to get it published by the end of the year, this is a must!
3. Finish the notes on RoS and begin drafting the M & S compilation.
Again, if I aim to have it in the hands of betas by the end of the year, I need to start drafting pretty soon.
4. Finish the girls' scarves.
It's looking like it's going to be a cold winter. They're going to need them, and I'm about three quarters of the way done with both.
5. Finish Lily's heavy sweater.
Yes, we bought her a sweater, but it's a medium weight. If it keeps dipping down into the single digits, she's going to need a heavier one. This is Alabama, most of the dog sweaters in stores are rather light weight.
6. Practice with the sewing machine at least every other week.
It's the only way to get better, right?
7. Return to writing book reviews.
Come on, I have four or five sitting on the shelf waiting to be read and reviewed. I need to get back to it.
8. Organize the kitchen and master bedroom suite.
I've actually already gotten a start on this. C. L. and I got a couple Lowes gift certificates and some money for Christmas this year, and we're putting it to use repainting our master suite and getting a desk that'll be much more conducive to getting work done than the teeny sewing desk I've been using for the past couple years.
The start of this redecorating, and the obligatory before shots that go with it, is what we're planning to do this week's vlog on. So if you're interested, go check out Eng Family Vlogs. We post a new weekly vlog every Sunday morning around 7 a.m. CST.
