Finding My Rhythm

Lately I'm feeling like a real slacker. I've written blogs in time to go up on schedule, but I have gotten pretty much nothing done on Icarus for a couple of weeks now. Going forward as I am just isn't going to work. I know that. I have to make a change somewhere to start making headway again.

I've been trying and failing to get into a writing routine these past couple weeks. The idea has been to write and schedule the blog posts on the weekends and then spend at least a couple hours a day each weekday working on my current work-in-progress. The problem is weekends have a tendency to go from the rest days they supposedly are to a whirlwind of activities, projects, and social obligations. Then the blog post writing gets pushed to Monday and can easily stretch into multiple days during weeks when chaos abounds.

For those who run a small business or homeschool, those occur with astonishing frequency. When you do both, almost every week is chaotic at one point or another. So, I need to find a way to chaos proof my writing routine.

I'm not sure yet how I'm going to do it, but I'm determined. So far, I'm doing pretty well this week. Sure it's late Sunday afternoon when I'm writing this, but both Diary of a Work-at-Home-Mom posts and the Contented Comfort business blog posts have been written and scheduled. Once I'm done with this post, I'll just need to write the Friday Flash Fiction post for this blog before editing and uploading this week's vlog to my family's YouTube channel.

Maybe I can spend all this week's daily writing blocks adding to the seventh chapter of Icarus and beyond.
