Quarterly Goals: 2017 First Quarter

Hello again everyone. A new year has begun, and you know what that means. There's a new year and a new quarter, so it's time to see how I did in 2016's last quarter and set new goals for the coming year and quarter.

Once again, my results are kind of a mixed bag. I did really well reaching some goals, and some I didn't. That's just life though, I suppose. So let's take a look.

2016 Fourth Quarter Goals

1. Finish Icarus Rough Draft

I made progress on this one, but I didn't finish the draft. I did however finally manage to finish a chapter I'd been stuck on for months, so I'll take the small win.

2. Hold weight steady through holidays.

I did this one! It seems like a small thing, but it's the first time in about ten years I've gotten through the holiday season without gaining several pounds.

3. Rehab leg enough to be able to sit for an hour or two.

I also managed this one. I have to be careful not to sit for more than a couple of hours and not to do that more than a time or two a week, but I can sit at the desk now and again when needed.

4. Book two shows for 2017.

I've found some, but the booths don't come open for purchase until this quarter. So...

5. Finish the paintings I'd almost finished in the third quarter.

Done! I've now finished four of the six paintings.

Goals for 2017

This is something new this year. I've always made resolutions before, but those never work. So this year I've decided to set goals to work toward throughout the year. A lot of my quarterly goals will be making steps in the right direction to meet the yearly goals, so I thought it would give me an idea of where I'm heading.

1. Finish and publish The Icarus Project.
2. Have my second short story collection in the hands of betas.
3. Finish second Yekara novel's pre-writing.
4. Be 24 pounds lighter than I am right now.
5. Have successfully grown full spring, summer, and fall gardens.
6. Finish last two paintings and three blankets, including a quilt.
7. Have 25 YouTube subscribers.
8. Make a couple of sale each month.

First Quarter Goals

1. Finish TIP Rough

Obvious, right? If I want to publish it, I have to have the rough finished ASAP. Now that I'm getting back in the swing of things, maybe this quarter will work better.

2. Do pre-writes for Yekara's second novel.

I have a good amount of notes on what needs to happen, so I'm ready to roll on this one as soon as TIP is roughed out.

3. Lose an inch.

It's going to be a recurring goal until I'm back down to a healthy weight.

4. Plant spring garden.

Did you know you have to plant the spring garden in late Feburary? Me neither. That's why we didn't have one last year.

5. Book two shows.

So far, I only have two conventions confirmed for 2017. I need at least four more to have a decent year sales wise.

6. Brainstorm 2017 fragrance lines.

I already have one of the nine figured out. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has requests for any fandom inspired scents/soaps for this year.

7. Finish paintings.

I really want to have some art on my walls at some point this year. Step one is finishing the stupid paintings, so we can get them framed.

8. Finish granny ripple blanket.

Part of rehabing my leg was sewing together a blanket I started last summer to use during church. Being "cold natured," I tend to freeze, and having a lap blanket makes sitting through services each week much easier. The blanket I'm using now is one I intend to have as a back of the couch throw, so I want to finish a granny ripple blanket I started last week to use at church instead.

There are my goals for the year and the first three months in particular. What are your goals for 2017?
