![]() So the end of 2015 more or less kicked my rear. I suppose I should have known I'd either end up horribly ill, insanely busy, or both the moment I signed up for NaNoWriMo. As it happened, things went busy, ill, extra busy trying to make up for time lost being ill, even sicker, then busy and ill over the course of November and December. Needless to say, not as much writing got done as I'd hoped because concentration is the first thing I misplace when not feeling my best. But it's a new year now, and I'm feeling pretty good again. I'm returning to the desk a good 50,000 words behind where I'd like to be with Icarus, but hey, I'm 25,000 words farther along than I was on November 1st, right? I'm horrible about forgetting resolutions, so I decided to pick an idea to work on in 2016. This year's idea is focus. I've always been more than a little scatterbrained, and the past year or so has been worse than most. I need some focus in my life.
So, this year I will be endeavoring to have more focus in all aspects of my life. Spirituality, health, writing, and business are four key sectors needing it the most. We got more of a jump start with some than others. Health and spirituality are easy ones. More greens and water, less sugar and junk food; more moving and less sitting. More study and meditation, and less fretting. Adding focus to my writing and business is trickier. I started with a set of goals and a plan to reach them in mind. Then I took care scheduling the day, so neither soaping and sewing nor writing get neglected. There have been some growing pains with it, but we're slowly settling into the new schedule. Ideally, I'll have a full two hours each and every day to write, but they're scheduled for once the girls' school day is done. The first two days of school, especially with the youngest moving up to a more advanced curriculum, have been full of small challenges that add up to big time drains. So thus far, I've only managed an hour or so in the late afternoon. It's been enough to update this blog, the one for Contented Comfort, and an ancient, half dead mommy blog I still work on now and again. I'm hoping to get back to work on The Icarus Project either this afternoon or tomorrow. Posting here may become sporadic while I focus on it until it's ready to send off to the beta reading team. I hope you'll understand. Enough about me. What are you focusing on this year?
